CRL-Min Mineral Filter Cartridge contains a premium
grade mineral media for the re-mineralization of acidic or low pH
water such as produced by Reverse Osmosis (RO) Systems.
CRL-Min dissolves when the pH drops, produces calcium and boosts
alkalinity -and it’s got a number of distinct advantages over
Limestone or Calcite.
With Limestone or Calcite, much of
their “power” is locked away and may not be seen until the pH drops
below 7.0 but CRL-Min kicks in when the pH drops below 8.2, so it
keeps the pH higher and adds more minerals to the
water.
Applications include post mineral filter for Reverse Osmosis
(RO), Distillation, and Ultra High Purity Water Dispensing
equipment. It is ideal for marine fish tanks, and also for some
freshwater fishes to increase the pH of the water.
It
contains no silica (which encourages the growth of algae), but
contains small quantities of useful trace elements like magnesium
and strontium.
Espresso machine manufacturers recommend this
10" CRL-Min filter for those of you who are using an Reverse
Osmosis (RO) system to remove hardness from your water. This filter
will add back minerals in trace amounts to your water to prevent
leaching of your copper boiler over time.
If you want to use
copper piping after an Reverse Osmosis (RO) water purification
system read further:
A simple way to raise the pH of Reverse
Osmosis (RO) Permeate to make it non-aggressive and compatible with
copper piping is to use a CRL-Min post mineral filter. One of the
advantages of CRL-Min is its self-limiting property. It corrects
pH only excessive enough to reach a non-corrosive equilibrium and
does not cause any scum formation.
How Do CRL-Min postfilters Work?
Install
into a standard 10" filter housing after the RO System. The
CRL-Min media slowly dissolves,
releasing the right amount of mineral to make the water
non-corrosive.
